Happy National Nurses Week!

I'm thrilled to announce our very special 9th Annual Distinguished Nurse Lectureship on May 9, 2018. Our theme this year is Compassion in the Aftermath of Crisis. In this extraordinary webcast, you'll hear the real-life stories of PSJH nurses directly involved in three recent major traumatic events: the Las Vegas concert shooting, the northern California wildfires and the Amtrak train derailment in Washington. You’ll learn how our nurses responded to sudden disaster, how they cared for others in the midst of tragedy and how they are dealing with the after-effects of massive crisis. Then we’ll focus on what we as caregivers, as leaders and as the employer, must do to compassionately support our nurses and clinicians involved in traumatic or violent work-related events. You’ll hear from a behavioral health expert who will help us understand how to respond to coworkers after traumatic events, how to build resiliency in ourselves and how to access help when suffering the effects of trauma. We’ll also have a time to answer your questions. You won’t want to miss this special Nursing Lectureship. It will touch the heart of everyone who attends. 2018 PSJH Nursing Lectureship, 1 p.m. (PST) Wednesday, May 9, 2018.

And please have a very Happy National Nurses Week! I salute and thank each one of you for what you do for our patients, families and communities; each and every time. You are the PSJH mission made visible, and no one can thank you enough. I am honored and humbled to serve you.
